26th Apr 1974 Abhijit is born to Anil and Kavita Gadgil in Pune, India
11th Jan 1993 Having been educated all over the country as an IAF pilot's son, Abhijit joined the 89th course at the National Defence Academy, Pune in January 1993 and was assigned to the M (Mike) squadron
21st Dec 1996 Abhijit graduated from the academy, and was commissioned as a Flying Officer
11th Sept 2001 Twin Towers in America are destroyed by terrorists
12th Sept 2001 World over, Air Forces go on red alert. As a 2-Aircraft leader, Abhijit is at the forefront with the Panthers (23rd squadron) at Suratgarh, 100 km from the Pakistan border
17th Sep 2001 Flt Lt. Abhijit’s fatal crash at Suratgarh, Rajasthan in a MiG-21
Early 2002 Gadgil.com goes up. Receives hundreds of letters from people offering to help
Mid 2002 Kavita Gadgil is contacted by many other parents and families of crash victims and realises that the problem is deeper and that something needs to be done about it
21st Dec 2002 AASF was conceived
01st Feb 2003 A letter written to the Chief of Air Staff- IAF inquiring the cause of the fatal crash
12th Mar 2003 A reply sent by Air Marshal Ashok Goel, Inspector General (Flight Safety) on behalf of the IAF
05th Aug 2003 Meeting with the President of India with the petition regarding MiG-21 crashes and the fatal crash of Flt Lt. Abhijit Gadgil
07th Aug 2003 Letter received from the then Defence Minister Mr. George Fernandes (dated July 29), showing concern about the MiG-21 crashes and inviting Mr & Mrs. Anil Gadgil for a meeting
15th Sep 2003 Meeting with the Defence Minister where he agreed to re-examine the cause of Abhijit’s crash
15th Sep 2003 A detailed letter to the Chief of the Air Staff from Mr. and Mrs Anil Gadgil in response to the letter dated March 12, 2003
20th Dec 2003 Reminder to the CAS and also raising pertinent queries regarding the crash investigations
